Fear has no power and no ability to save or change an
individual, it is not at all a good motivator for serving God because it
doesn’t open you up to experience a true relationship with Him and to
understand God as a Father. Fear is indeed a stumbling block but God has not
given us a Spirit of Fear, but of Power, of LOVE, and of Self Control (2
Timothy 1:7). We have the power to conquer and overcome fear with the Faith,
Grace, and Love we have been given through Christ Jesus (1 John 5:4-5)
The bible tells us perfected love cast our fear (1 John
4:18) so this reinforces the truth that when we come to love God wholly, all
fears should be cast out because we trust Him (Hebrews 13:6). When you trust
God – who is the author and finisher of our faith, what is there to fear? Even
if death were to come upon us, surely it would be God’s will and His timing! If
you have indeed served God in Spirit and Truth, keeping an intimate
relationship with Him FIRST above all others –death is not a reason to fear
because we know in death, we receive life, with Christ and our Father; those
who serve God long to return to our Glorious Creator where we will finally
dwell with Him in goodness, peace, and joy for all of eternity.
Many of us have no victory in our walks with God and we live
in constant frustration because we spend too much time operating in a spirit of
fear under the enemy’s lies rather than operating in love and speaking the
truth of God over ourselves, our circumstances and those in our lives. We focus on “NOT GOING TO HELL or MAKING IT
TO HEAVEN” for all the wrong reasons and then wonder why we don’t see God move
in our lives as we believe He should.
Many don’t say this, but I will…if you are only serving God because you
want to avoid hell, because you are looking for some big mansion in the sky, or
simply because you want to please/impress grandma, momma, sissy or bestie– you
aren’t serving God at all – spend some time in prayer on that statement.
